KUTA – The lovely scenery and the fact the air is so clean the sunlight seems to have a special golden quality. Everywhere you look there is beauty, for there is a manicured, garden like appearance to much of Bali, along with the rice paddies tripping like steps down the hillsides and the volcano cones slumbering in the distance. Handicrafts and artworks are superb. Different beaches offer entirely different ambience and attractions. Kuta is the most famous. First discovered by the surfers and hippies of the 60s. Now this island become known around the world for its magnificent sunsets, surf and nightlife.
LEGIAN is another popular beach where locals, expatriates and tourists mingle, bargain with shop owners and stall holders, play paddle ball and football, indulge in a massage and manicure, catch up on reading, meditate, exercise, or just chill out. It’s cool.
JIMBARAN is a sleepy cove where fleets of fishing boats colour the scene, but the opening in recent years of the Four Seasons and the InterContinental, both of them superbly beautiful resort hotels, has added the extra element of class. Jimbaran is attracting more people but the beach still has a sleepy feeling.
TUBAN is lined by big hotels. A little less frantic than Kuta, it’s a good place to grab a deck chair and a good book. Swimming here is safe, as the hotel lifeguards will put up flags if there are any rips, but mostly it is preety well protected.
NUSA DUA was designed for the luxury conscious with a heavy concentration of big name hotels lining the beautiful white sand beach that offers excellent swimming conditions in a protected lagoon.
Bali it is one of Asia’s tourism jewels, and nothing will ever change that. Happy vacation in Bali!
